Dear Eastwood families,

I want to make you aware of a situation that affected our school today. Around 2:01pm Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) directed our school into a hold and secure.

As part of our hold and secure protocol, students and staff remained inside and all exterior doors were locked so no one could enter or exit the building. The notification came after the end of the day school bell, so any students who remained in the school building were kept inside. Our school remained in a hold and secure for approximately 40 minutes until we were assured by WRPS that it was safe to unlock exterior doors and allow for students and staff to leave the building.

We will always take whatever precaution is necessary to ensure the safety of our students and staff. We want to thank our partners at WRPS for helping to keep our schools safe places to learn.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at school.

Sincerely,

Ryan Hume
