Dear Eastwood parents, families, and caregivers,

Today at approximately 11:45 a.m. the Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) directed our school into a hold and secure as the result of an ongoing police investigation in the area, which was later lifted at approximately 12:20 p.m..

As part of our hold and secure protocols, students and staff remained inside and all exterior doors were locked so no one could enter or exit the building. Staff and students were safe inside the school or their portables at all times. Our school remained in hold and secure until we were assured by WRPS that it was safe to return to our regular school routines.

We will always take whatever precaution is necessary to ensure the safety of students and staff. We want to thank our partners at WRPS for helping to keep our schools safe places to learn. Sometimes, incidents like this can cause students to become worried or feel uncomfortable. If your child is feeling uneasy and would like to speak with someone, our child and youth worker, guidance staff and administrators are available.

As always, please call our school if you have questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Jeff Klinck

Principal
