We want to share an important update with you regarding the continued closure of Eastwood Collegiate Institute (ECI) tomorrow, Friday, May 16.

Eastwood Collegiate Institute Closed on Friday, May 16

Due to the time necessary for Region of Waterloo Public Health to complete the required steps in vaccination verification, the school will remain closed on Friday, May 16.

Region of Waterloo Public Health has confirmed a case of the measles virus at Eastwood Collegiate Institute (ECI), which has also caused exposures on May 7 and May 8.

Next Steps for Students and Families

Public Health is following up with people who may have been exposed to this case, and will work with the school to notify them of their required next steps.

We continue to work closely with Public Health to ensure appropriate infection prevention and control practices are in place and that we have the necessary support.
