We want to share an important update with you on behalf of Region of Waterloo Public Health regarding a confirmed case of measles at Eastwood Collegiate Institute (ECI).

Eastwood Collegiate Institute Closed on Thursday, May 15

Due to the time necessary for Public Health to complete the required steps in vaccination verification, the school will be closed on Thursday, May 15.

Information from Region of Waterloo Public Health

Region of Waterloo Public Health has confirmed a case of the measles virus at Eastwood Collegiate Institute (ECI), which has also caused exposures on May 7 and May 8.

Next Steps for Students and Families

Public Health is following up with people who may have been exposed to this case, and will work with the school to notify them of their required next steps.

We continue to work closely with Public Health to ensure appropriate infection prevention and control practices are in place and that we have the necessary support.
