The Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) is pleased to announce our 2025-2026 Student Trustees: Krishna Trivedi and Kinjal Kaur.
WRDSB students elected Trivedi and Kaur in a February election. Both student trustees said they feel honoured to serve the WRDSB student body. They are also excited to fulfil their roles when they officially step into the Student Trustees positions in September 2025.
Student Trustees Kaur and Trivedi were welcomed with enthusiasm by Trustee Mentors Meena Waseem and Carla Johnson
Kinjal Kaur
Kaur will be in Grade 11 when starting the role. She enjoys meeting new people and the experiences they have together.
“School isn’t just about learning, it’s a chance to discover your passions and interests, and build connections with new friends that can last a lifetime. You’re never going to remember every single lesson from school, but you will remember and treasure the fun, hilarious, and unique moments and experiences you have with those around you.”
Krishna Trivedi
Trivedi will be in Grade 12 when starting as a Student Trustee. His favourite part of his educational journey is making friends and learning more about the people around them. He is involved in various extracurricular activities, including: student activity council, DECA, debate club, model UN, senior band and orchestra.
Inspired to Support Change for Students
Kaur decided to run for Student Trustee because she wanted to make changes to education and advocate for fellow students. She believes in fair representation and the equal chance for students to be heard and valued.
Kaur plans to use her role as a Student Trustee to accomplish many positive changes, including fighting for lowered student prices for public transportation and school lunches; better exam support; new opportunities for students to showcase their skills and talents; and to listen to what students want, giving them a fair voice and representation on the Board of Trustees.
Trivedi also has big plans for the future and ran to initiate change in schools with an effective and ordered plan. Together, the pair will be working hard to ensure the students’ voices are heard as they will be representing 65,000 students across the WRDSB.
Trivedi aims to bring better food options to the region and unite the students in the school board for a better school experience.
The Student Trustees are committed to advocating for all students and creating opportunities for ongoing conversations with fellow students across the board.
Student Trustees Share Advice for Peers
Kaur wanted to let students know that they can count on the Student Trustees to utilize their full potential to create meaningful changes and advocate for students wherever opportunities arise. She also wants students to know that as their representatives, Student Trustees are always ready to listen to any concerns and ideas students have.
Both Kaur and Trivedi expressed how thankful they are to have been chosen for these positions. Trivedi states that it is an honour to represent the students in this school board.
Here’s to a great 2025-2026 school year!
