LAWRENCE A. BINGEMAN
Being at Eastwood Collegiate in the year the school opened would have brought some interesting experiences for these early students.
Lawrence Bingeman was one of these students. While at Eastwood,Lawrence was involved in one of the school’s earliest operettas. From Eastwood, he went on to Waterloo College, later known asWilfrid Laurier University.
As President of Bingeman’s Inc. and Chairmen of the Board of Waterloo Motor Inn Ltd., Lawrence has had a major impact on the hospitality industry in the K-W area.
From 1970-74, Lawrence was president of the Grand Valley Branch of the Canadian Restaurant Association. In 1972, he received the Lion’s Club Certificate of Appreciation. From 1976-77, he was president of the K-W Civitan Club.
Since 1987, he has been on the Executive Board of Directors for the K-W Octoberfest Inc. and has been a volunteer since its inception.
In 1988, he received the Employer of the Year award from Junior Achievement and in 2000 was granted the Mentor’s Award from the Centre for Family Business. Junior Achievement chose him as their Business Leader of the Year in 2005.
