Dear families of Eastwood Collegiate Institute (ECI),

Today, our staff were made aware of some graffiti inside school property that was threatening and made reference to an act of violence. The message read, ā€œIā€™m going to blow up the school @ 10AM tomorrow.ā€ We immediately reported this threat to the Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) and they are currently investigating to determine the author and legitimacy of the message.

Our student and staff safety and well-being is a top priority and we are working closely with our police partners.

We want to repeat the statements from our board that it is unacceptable to make threats, written or verbal, towards anyone. Our students have the right to learn in a safe environment without fear. No matter the intention, we take any threat of violence seriously and the authors of these threats will be held accountable.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call police at 519-570-9777 ext. 4421 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
